Ocean Systems Laboratory of St. Thomas is an EPA Certified Laboratory that performs both water and soil testing for various parameters. The Drinking WaterSupervisor will ensure that Quality Control and Quality Assurance parameters are being met for all drinking water samples being analyzed by the lab. Oversees the work of laboratory analysts and technicians, and schedules external sampling. Will be responsible for reviewing and entering data. Maintains communication with clients for notification purposes and answers general questions. Ensures efficient work flow within the lab. Maintains personal certification and qualifications for analyzing various parameters so that there is complete coverage in the laboratory. Must be able to perform all analyses including but not limited to: biological oxygen demand, membrane filtration for coliform testing, oil and grease. Must be able to effectively manage personnel and make decisions about hourly employee’s scheduling including overtime. Will work with vendors to order supplies and schedule off-island testing. Will work with private entities, local and national government agencies and must follow rules and regulations put forth by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) as well as the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resource (V. I. DPNR).
