Main Purpose of the Job

Terminal operators are responsible for monitoring all outgoing and incoming shipments ensuring that they are routed to the proper storage locations on site. Quality control checks are performed to ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices. They will have to engage in general housekeeping duties, including some minor routine maintenance and repair of terminal equipment and machinery. They will also be tasked with minor office work, such as completing daily accounting, inventory and regulatory reports. Other duties include assisting with new employee hiring and training, responding to outside inquiries, identifying cost reduction measures, and inspecting the work of contractors and third-party personnel including drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

- Follow, without exception, with operating procedures for any activity within the facilities. - Facilitate the safe movement, receipt, and shipment of product between pipelines, tanker trucks, barges, and storage tanks by strictly following policies and procedures and ensuring proper system line-up in accordance with all State and Federal laws and regulations, and accordance with all company policies and procedures. - Climbing, gauging, drain and sampling of product in storage tanks. Also, verification of product at additive storage tanks and performing quality assurance testing as required - Occasional office work to include generating daily accounting reports, recordkeeping, documents required for filling trucks and making computer related entries. Also, provide proper documentation as per SAPS and Operational Excellence (OE). - Assist the terminal maintenance crew on non-routine maintenance activities including but not limited to troubleshooting, routine repair/replacement of terminal equipment, terminal inspections, greasing valves, pumps, and loading rack equipment, and building maintenance based on Terminal Scheduled Maintenance Program (MP9). -  Terminal Operators authorize, inspect, and audit the work of contractors and drivers and assist drivers and customers with loading problems assuring compliance with safe work policies and procedures. - Ensure that product transactions are properly measured, accurately documented, and conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures. - Perform and comply with all daily, weekly and monthly areas inspection and inventories.  - Keep daily control of fuel inventory by means of physical measurements and ATG to monitor movements of fuel.  - Provide maintenance services to the loading equipment and execution to the preventive maintenance program of the Terminal without interfering with the daily filling of trucks. - Comply with and company policies (Safety/Security/Regulatory) to ensure that work within the facilities is performed in maximum security and safety conditions. Maintain compliance on SAPS, FSP, OPA 90, EPA FRP, RMP, PSM, Contingency Plans, etc - Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs.of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps poles and the like. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear and have a good vision.This includes the use of hand tools and/or equipment for troubleshooting and/or minor repair. - Participate in all training courses scheduled by HSSE, Operations, HR as well as in all contingency drills.  - Work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or raining conditions. - Comply with any task entrusted by the Operations Supervisor and/or Terminal Superintendent. 


Skills Required

 

Minimum required knowledge/Skills/ Experience

Two years of college or equivalent 

 

Desirable knowledge/Skills/  

2 years minimum experience in handling of fuel (preferably).
