Job Description:

Summary:  Guards, patrols, and monitors premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Answers alarms and investigates disturbances.
  • Notifies police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Inspects and adjusts security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.
  • Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force when necessary.
  • Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
  • Follow company security protocol rules and regulations.

Education/Experience: 

Education:        Graduation from high school or above Experience:      

 Previous security experience and/or training (or equivalent) is preferred. 

 Previous experience in a marina or retail setting preferred. 

Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   Frequently required to work under inclement weather conditions as work is generally performed outside.  Shift work hours with odd days off.  Unpredictable crises situations are possible.
