Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, conducts sampling of residents and commercial/industrial drinking water systems for compliance in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of DPNR and EPA.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collect and document water samples from residential and commercial/industrial drinking water systems location and reservoir.
Prepares documentation for samples collected
Assist in cleaning and maintaining various laboratory devices, equipment, and surroundings.
Provide exceptional customer service to those contacted in the course of work.
Performs simple field tests, including pH and chlorine.
Assists in laboratory activities in support of the preparation and analysis of environmental samples.
Calibrates and maintains sampling equipment.
Education:
Possession of high school diploma or the equivalent
Experience:
Willing to train on the job.

Ability to work alone, with minimal supervision, as well as with others.

Licenses and Special Requirement:
Possession of a valid and appropriate USVI Driver's License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Must own a vehicle to conduct water sampling (gas reimbursement provided).
Must pass the USVI Drinking Water Sampler course and obtain certification within a month of employment.
USVI Resident and familiar with areas located on St. Thomas and St. John, preferred.
Physical Demand:
Work is primarily performed outside.
Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers.
Occasionally required to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to communicate verbally on the phone and in person.
Ability to withstand strong odors.
Extended hours may be required.
Fluency in the English language, bilingual a plus.
Will be required to wear safety protective gear when necessary.
Some travel required.
Work Environment:
Laboratory environment with potential biohazards present.
