Job Responsibilities:
Initiates automotive services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services requested; verifying warranty and service contract coverage; developing estimates; writing repair orders; maintaining customer rapport and records.
Job Duties:
Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules.
Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor;
Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns;
Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Skills Required
Promptly greets all customers, providing timely, professional service
Provides excellent customer service by listening to customer inquiries and requests, asking questions to identify service needs, resolving customer concerns and selling additional services when appropriate
Performs vehicle walk-arounds and completes documentation of customer concerns to enable the Technician to properly diagnose and service the vehicle
Consults with the customer on applicable service specials
Communicates with customer about status of work
Coordinates activities to ensure repair work is fixed right the first time and completed on time
Keeps customer informed on completion times, service expenses and possible changes
Remains involved with delivery of vehicle to customer upon completion to assure all customer concerns can be addressed
Spends quality time building a relationship with the customer
Knows the product well enough to answer characteristic and operational questions regarding the customer’s vehicle
Eliminates surprises for customer by reviewing service repairs and their associated charges to ensure accuracy
Answers incoming telephone calls promptly, courteously, and makes every effort to satisfy the caller’s inquiry
