The Virgin Islands Public Broadcasting System announces the opening of a Technical Assistant I position on the island of St. Thomas.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Search and retrieval of tapes to be used as B-roll or footage for documentaries;

·         Dub footage;

·         Setup and operation of production equipment;

·         Record, tag and complete inventory of tapes and promo reels;

·         Resolve problems relative to exposure control, subject and camera movement, changes in subject distance during recording and related variables; and

·         Operate cameras, microphones, lights and accessories during and in preparation for remote and studio broadcasts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to operate cameras;
• Ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to changing situations;
• Ability to load and off load production equipment and lift furniture;
• Ability to lift 30 pounds;
• Ability to carry hand held cameras during productions for 30 minutes;
• Ability to climb and descend from ladders and scaffolds;
• Ability to stand for 2-3 hours during productions; and
• Ability to work flexible hours and outdoors as needed.
