Position Summary:  This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and their respective Department.  Provides comprehensive primary patient care and education to assigned caseload of obstetrical and gynecological patients.  Demonstrates clinical competence in the management of the low risk obstetrical patient during the ante partum, intra partum and postpartum period and the ability to co-manage the high risk patient in collaboration with the attending obstetrician when indicated.  Documents assessments which accurately determines the patient’s condition and reflects knowledge of current nursing practice standards.  Documents a comprehensive, goal oriented plan of care which is outcome based and meets the patient’s needs throughout the course of treatment. Demonstrates the ability to assess the newborn and render emergency care when indicated.  Delegates tasks/assignments to staff as appropriate. Follows up on assigned tasks to insure successful patient outcomes.
