Job Description:
A ticketing agent is responsible for selling tickets to passengers for various modes of transportation. This includes taxi and ferry tickets. However, a job as a ticketing agent isn't only limited to selling tickets, but other responsibilities as well. A ticketing agent doesn't only handle the retail portion of selling a ticket. They also deal with planning a schedule for the customer, helping them reach their destination via the best route and at the lowest cost. Agent must be familiar with schedules and be able to answer questions about travel times and layovers. Other duties include assisting passengers with various travel route rescheduling and getting them to their destination as efficiently as possible. Other duties include, but are not limited to some initial point of contact baggage handling and routing (weighing and recieving baggage). Ticketing agents must display patience in stressful and fast-pace environment. The best ticketing agents can solve problems quickly and are able to easily placate agitated customers. Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays as travel schedules vary. Ticketing agents must be well-groomed and well-kept in outward appearance. Must be presentable, as it is important to greet customers. Minimum of high school diploma required. Excellent math and communications skills a must.
