Summary
A Physician Assistant Program faculty member is responsible for imparting academic knowledge and a clinical perspective to students. The faculty member is a team member, although under the general supervision of the Director of Didactic Education.
Essential Functions
- Satisfactory completion of tasks assigned by the Director of Didactic Education or his/her designee, such as a Course Coordinator.
- Didactic instruction within the PA Program curriculum.
- Development of behavioral learning objectives consistent with the missions of the PA Program and the terminal graduate PA competencies noted by the NCCPA.
- Function as a professional role model, academic advisor and referral resource.
- Active participation on designated PA committees such as Self-Study, Curriculum, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a MS/MA degree and a PA certificate of MD degree. Current Florida licensure or eligibility is required, as is current NCCPA certification for physician Assistant faculty member. A minimum of five years of clinical experience is desired. Other qualifications and skills include:
- Ability to read and interpret scientific journals.
- Ability to demonstrate and teach clinical reasoning.
- Ability to represent the profession and the Barry University PA Program to the community.
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, administrators, and support staff in a dynamic multi-cultural environment.
