Job Description:
Position Summary:This person maintains an environment where safe and compassionate care is delivered consistent with the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and their receptive Department.Contributes to the quality of patient care under the supervision of the registered nurse.Understands basic principles of water treatment and testing and provides care for unit population. Prepares dialysis machine per unit procedure, including set-up, priming and testing of equipment.Initiates, monitors, and terminates dialysis treatment per unit policy and reports any problems or complications to RN.Accurately collects, documents, and reports data (i.e. vital signs, weights) appropriately in the medical record.
Skills Required
Hazards & Physical Requirements:Risk of exposure to communicable diseases; blood and/or body fluids.Must be able to stand for up to 6 hours a day, walk up to 1 hour per day, and sit for up to 1 hour per day.Must be able to move 50-100 pounds with assistance.Education & Experience:Must have high school diploma or GED.Required current dialysis technician training certificate.Permanent staff members accepted into the dialysis technician position must obtain approved Hemodialysis Technician Certification within 18 months from their date of hireSpecific Requirements: Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer BLS certification.Knowledgeable and comfortable working with computers.
