Job Description:

Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.

Creativity; artistic ability; understanding of retail advertising industry; knowledge of graphics, layout, paste-ups, mechanicals, typography, color, and
photography; drawing and illustration skillsDetermine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.

Use computer software such as Adobe,publisher,CS4, and other design programs to generate new images for customers.

Mark up, paste, and assemble final layouts to prepare layouts for printer.

Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos,buisness cards,invitations, flyers,etc.

The job of Print Shop Consult is done for the purpose/s of providing materials and work orders purchased by customers.

Ensures the safe and efficient operation of reproduction services; and delivering completed materials within established time frames.

Other Duties Include

Calculates resource estimates (e.g. personnel time, material costs, etc.) for the purpose of printing and/or duplicating.

Creates layouts of orders for the purpose of customers order requests.

Inspects printed jobs for the purpose of completing jobs within requested specifications, quality standards andquantity requirements.

Maintains a variety of files and records (e.g. print orders, department billing files, maintenance agreements, etc.) for the purpose of providing complete and accurate documentation

Maintains machines, equipment, tools and work areas (e.g. load supplies, clear paper jams, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe working environment and the availability of items within a specific time frame.

Monitors department budget and supply inventory for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget and/or fiscal practices are followed and required materials are available.

Operates a variety of equipment (e.g. copier, drill, binder, collating machine,laminating,computer use,fax machine etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of printed materials as required.

• Prepares printing job/s (e.g. binding, collating, etc.) for the purpose of packaging jobs for distribution and instore orders

Prints all standard forms, form catalogue and other documents (e.g. announcements, letterhead, fliers, business cards, flyers, t-shirts,mugs pamphlets, and more)

Processes a variety of documents and/or materials (e.g. print orders, billings, supply orders, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of documents and material and ensuring an up-to-date reference trail.

• Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing requested information and/or referring to appropriate resources.

Experience, Skills, and Personality Traits

Graphic Artists should be very artistic individuals with a thorough understanding of the concepts of retail advertising and art. Creativity is essential in order to develop eye-catching ads or promotional material as well as to design them and bring them to fruition. Graphic Artists must be able to sketch, draw, paste up, lay out, and put together designs requested by a customer.Computer skills and the ability to use appropriate software programs are mandatory.

 All designers must have training in computer graphics packages such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Paint Shop Pro as well as knowledge of Flash, XML-based web applications and programming. The designer should also be comfortable working with a variety of operating systems such as Windows, Macintosh, etc.Design -- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision graphics

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations,read,a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.

Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: safety practices and procedures; operation of copiers and related office equipment.

ABILITY is required to schedule order, pick up dates; collate data;copying and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.

Ability is alsorequired to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. In working with others, Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with persons of varied backgrounds; meeting deadlines and schedules; adapting to changing priorities; setting priorities; and working with frequent interruptions.The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:lifting (20 pounds) carrying, pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 20% walking, and 70% standing.Ocassionally
