The Virgin Islands Public Television SystemFeatures Producer Job PostingThe Virgin Islands Public Television System has an opening for a Features Producer position. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and developing shows, producing and directing spots, creating feature segments, and documentaries for the System. The individual is also responsible for assisting the Senior Producer in all elements of pre-productions, productions and post-productions, as needed.Duties and Responsibilities:
Produce and direct shows, documentaries and special events;
Prepare online news updates for the System’s website and social media sites;
Assist with providing coverage and hosting of live productions;
Assist with coordinating and producing in-house shows, events, and programming;
Assist with planning and organizing the content of station programs, shows, guest lists and special features;
Assist with planning program formats and conducting research, preparing and writing scripts and maintaining production records;
Obtain signed release forms from on-air guests for all shows and programs and check for copyright and permission issues prior to all productions;
Meet departmental deadlines as per supervisor’s directive; and
All other job related duties as directed.
Qualifications:·Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications or equivalent preferred, plus 3 years of television production experience. In lieu of a college degree,5-6 years of prior work experience in television production; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job;
Ability to operate a camera;
Good knowledge of VI History and Culture;
Non-linear video editing experience;
Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal skills;
·Ability to work with minimal supervision;·Ability to work flexible hours;·Ability to travel and overnight as needed; ·Ability to lift 30 pounds;·Ability to drive and must have a valid USVI Driver’s License;·High degree of integrity, professionalism and positive work ethics;·Ability to handle deadline pressure and work under the demands of shows, programs and events; and·Ability to lead by example and work well with others at all levels.
