Our Christiansted, St. Croix office seeks a Field Services Lead to handle high level fieldwork duties and assist in the supervision of technician staff.
This is outdoor work, in all weather conditions
Responsibilities:
Schedules field activities by assigning the appropriate field technician to each task, communicating the schedule to the appropriate office team member, and ensuring that work request forms are prepared completely and correctly and signed by the Project Manager.
Handles data management and tabulation, comparing soil and groundwater data to regulatory standards, preparing groundwater analytical maps, creating sample location maps, and soil boring and monitoring well logs.
Ensures equipment is in good working order and identifies those tools and equipment not in a safe and functional condition (prior to leaving the office) and ensures proper equipment is loaded on the truck to perform the required field activities.
Conducts well gauging, well development, routine groundwater/soil sampling, and other general field-related services, including general labor and construction activities as permitted by GES policies and procedures.
Performs general subcontractor oversight and self-performs (where applicable) field-related activities related to remediation work (i.e. trenching, subsurface piping, shed and electrical installations).
Performs standard remedial system and vacuum enhanced recovery operations & maintenance (O&M) activities
Completes all reporting and paperwork necessary to support the Project Manager and ensure proper field operations
Records field notes and O&M Sheets for specific tasks performed at each site and follows established procedures for documenting all field activities.
Reports field related issues to the Project Manager and helps to remedy the concern
Conducts Job Safety Analysis (JSA) quality reviews and Loss Prevention Observations (LPOs), and identifies loss/near-loss (NL) incidents.
Ensures all installation and repair practices adhere to OSHA requirements and GES’ engineering standards.
Adheres to OSHA and GES’ Health & Safety standards in all field-related activities.
May assist in the oversight of Technician staff and handles individual performance management and mentoring through setting goals/expectations consistent with company standards, providing daily guidance and one-on-one coaching sessions, practicing behavior-based management, investigating accidents, conducting individual and team meetings, conducting safety meetings, and semi-annual and annual reviews for all project team members.
Performs other field duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Skills Required
A high school diploma or equivalent. A degree in geology, environmental science or related scientific discipline is a plus.
8+ years of field related work experience within the environmental consulting industry. Must possess a strong understanding of standard operating procedures related to sampling, health & safety, decontamination, field note recording, equipment calibration, and O&M activities.
Petroleum Storage Terminal and Refinery experience is a big plus.
Proficient computer (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry skills.
Must be detail-oriented team player with very good technical, mechanical, problem solving, organizational, communication and time management skills.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and TWIC card are a plus. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training will be required if this certification is not yet earned. This certification and a TWIC card are required to perform the duties of this position.
