Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:Repairs, calibrates, and maintains medical equipment and instrumentation used in GJFL system; Inspects and installs medical and related technical equipment for use by hospital’s personnel involved in monitoring, diagnosing, and treating physical ailments or dysfunctions; Services various equipment and apparatus, such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood-gas analyzers, defibrillators, electro surgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood-pressure transducers, Spiro meters, sterilizers, dialysis control units, diathermy equipment, and other related technical paraphernalia; Repairs, calibrates, and maintains equipment, using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices; Electrical safety test medical equipment for healthcare facility’s structural environment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards; Demonstrates and explains correct operation of equipment to medical personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs a variety of routine and complex tasks associated with the illustration, service and calibration of therapeutic, diagnostic or life support biomedical instrumentation; Documents introduction of new therapeutic, diagnostic, and analytical equipment, corrective and preventive maintenance actions and special request are required; Installs, maintains, services, modifies, troubleshoots, and calibrates a variety of diagnostic, therapeutic, analytical and life support devices by interpreting engineering and vendor information, schematic diagrams and graphic illustrations; Diagnoses and corrects system and equipment malfunctions by making alterations, repairs, or replacements to ensure that biomedical instrumentation and internal circuitry meet specified requirements; Improves or makes special test set-ups to conduct functional checks of medical electronic test equipment; Provides technical assistance and instruction to GJFL system personnel in the operation and maintenance of biomedical instrumentation; Provides recommendations regarding purchase of biomedical instrumentation; Meets departmental performance indicator standards on a consistent basis; Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor; Demonstrates initiative and concern for planning, time utilization and cost containment; Maintains good personal relationships with fellow workers, nursing and medical staff, and the general public; Maintains accurate and timely documentation; Maintains a clean and safe workplace; Provides mentoring to biomedical equipment technicians; Performs all duties related to this position as they are needed.
Skills Required
QUALIFICATIONS:
An Associates in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology;
At least 3 years of experience in servicing clinical medical equipment;
Considerable knowledge of electronics including solid state, technology and both linear and digital integrated circuits operation;
Considerable knowledge of hazards and applicable safety standards and performance requirements relating to biomedical instrumentation;
Working knowledge of the latest most advance troubleshooting, calibration and repair techniques;
Working knowledge of the operation, underlying physiological principles, and practical and safe use of patient-care equipment;
Knowledge of the operations of hospitals;
Exhibit excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
Working knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology;
Working knowledge of email, database management, spreadsheet and word processor applications.
